La Roma Piccola sits quietly on Queen Street East, offering a taste of Italy that fits well with the laid-back, neighborhood feel of Leslieville. This restaurant leans into a cozy, vintage-inspired atmosphere that invites guests to slow down and enjoy simple, well-prepared meals without pretense. Inside, the space feels like a casual trattoria, with warm lighting and an unhurried vibe that works well for both weekday dinners and weekend gatherings.

The menu covers a broad range of classic Italian dishes, with a focus on homemade quality and fresh ingredients. Starters like the warm wild mushroom salad and fried calamari get attention for their straightforward flavors and care in preparation. For mains, the seafood combo and grilled lamb chops stand out as hearty, thoughtfully composed plates served alongside seasonal vegetables and roasted potatoes, reflecting a kitchen that values both tradition and balance.

Visitors who appreciate authentic Italian food without the bustle of a tourist trap will find plenty to enjoy here. The portions tend to be generous, especially on pricier items like the mixed fish plate, making La Roma Piccola a reasonable choice for those who want to indulge in a sit-down dinner that doesn’t overreach on flashy presentation.

Service has received mixed notes from locals — while many point out attentive and friendly staff, there are hints that a bit more polish and enthusiasm behind the scenes could elevate the overall experience. Still, the welcoming presence of the owner and the warm environment make the restaurant a comfortable spot for families and small groups.

Early evening or quieter weekdays seem like the ideal times to visit if you want to soak in the relaxed atmosphere and have the place largely to yourself. It's a spot that balances casual charm with enough culinary care to satisfy those who know their Italian dishes.

Very cute little trattoria. When we arrived the restaurant was empty. Menu is quite large so wasn’t sure what we would get for quality on a Monday - but the Minestrone soup was wonderful. You could tell the veggies etc were all hand chopped and it was homemade. The Greek salad was well presented and tasty and my wife really liked the pizza. Overall solid value for tasty food in a really cute neighbourhood resto.

Absolutely amazing experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a great meal. I tried the grilled calamari and tiramisu, and both were outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The service, especially from Mitu, was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. I will definitely be coming back with family and friends!

A new gem in Leslieville, *La Roma Piccolo*, caught my attention, so I decided to try their food. The staff were very attentive, and the owner was welcoming and friendly. There were four of us: my wife, two of my kids, and I. I had a fungi salad, my wife had a Caprese, and my two sons shared fried calamari and bruschetta as starters. For the mains, we had the seafood combo, grilled salmon, and a Capricciosa pizza. All the dishes were elegantly presented and tasted truly authentic Italian. I will definitely be back.

Authentic Italian food. Ordered a mixed fish plate, it was $58 so I was a bit worried about it. But when the plate arrived, I was surprised how good it is! Such a sizable dish, you would need to pay $98 for it elsewhere. Pizza was nice too. Love the food there. If the staff were more enthusiastic and professional, it would be even better.

Tucked away in the east end lies a dazzling new treasure that’ll whisk you back in time with its vintage charm. This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a full-on experience, oozing old-school cool while dishing out homemade plates that hit all the right spots. Don’t let its unassuming facade fool you; step inside and you’re greeted with a menu that’s as expansive as it is enticing, wrapped in an ambiance that screams Tony Roma’s Niagara tourist trap—but trust me, this gem flips the script in the best way possible. My taste buds still dance thinking about the tagliatelle tangled with juicy chicken, plump shrimp, and a pesto that packs a punch—seriously, do yourself a favor and order it. Marco, the maestro of hospitality, welcomes you like family, all warmth and smiles. And just when you think it can’t get better, the espressos swoop in to seal the deal: one spiked with velvety Baileys, the other kissed by fiery Sambuca—pure liquid poetry, exactly what the soul craves.

This place deserves more love! Our server was so warm and welcoming, too bad we forgot to asked his name. Everything he recommended was spot on, the calamari with pesto sauce 10/10, the tiramisu is the best I have tasted. The pasta was cooked beautifully! The atmosphere was great, didn’t feel like we are on a rush to leave.
